This is an {un}blog, and not really a blog (because I never really do anything completely conventionally), but I certainly do have a lot to say and share (for those of you who know me, you did not need me to spell this out). I’m SO fortunate to be able to connect with people, products, and ideas that I find incredibly inspiring every day, and I hope to use this virtual space to give you an inside look into what’s going on in my (crazy) world…which, I share with you.

Along with my small but mighty team, we will be posting content under 3 main departments, and encourage you to share with us as well. If something excites or outrages you, if you have a product or service that we should know about, or should you have any comments, complaints, criticisms or compliments please be in touch.

Our Stories
farmers market

Not all Farmers’ Markets are Created Equal

Shopping at the farmers’ market is better for the environment, better for our local economy, and better for your wallet. It’s also fun, healthy, and the food tastes better. Once you eat fresh, recently harvested produce, you’ll realize the stuff from the supermarket (organic or not) is just not the same thing. Being connected to your food will change your entire life. But, as with anywhere you shop, buyers beware. Take the opportunity to buy the freshest, most local organic goods, and make sure you know what you are buying, who your money is going to, and what you are supporting.

The Borden Team’s Daily Priorities

We all have a list of things we hope (need) to accomplish today. In our office, those lists can often be very, very long, so it’s easy for us to understand how someone can get lost in a world of need-to-dos, and never find the time for the want-to-dos. Time can have a sneaky way of slipping away from us, so rather than waiting for the right moment (which never seems to be right for one reason or many), it’s crucial we make the moment happen.

How to Re-Purpose Your Favourite Quotes

Sometimes we come across a quote that we can’t help but share. Whether it makes us laugh, inspires us, or sheds some light on a situation we’re going through, the quotes that resonate jump out at us for a reason. There are many ways that you can re-purpose and share your favourite quotes (and there are many reasons why it makes good business sense, too)!

Who Made My Clothes?

We’ve joined people around the world to ask #whomademyclothes?

When you shop, ask (yourself and those at the store) “who made my clothes?” (not which brand….but literally, who?). Think about the thread from the garment, to the machinist who sewed it, all the way back to the farmer who grew the cotton. They all matter. (more…)

IWM: Toby Davidson

We interviewed Toby Davidson, serial entrepreneur and impact investor in the food industry. We found out some great tips for food businesses wanting to get into retail, why the business term “meaningful differentiation” is close to her heart, and which musician sings the soundtrack to her life.

Why we should take screens away from our kids

Three generations of families were interviewed for this ad and asked one simple question, “What did you like to do for fun as a kid?”

Take a moment to see how they responded in this video, then get your kids off those devices and outside – I know that it’s much easier said than done, I have 3 kids and countless screens, including the ones that I spend a lot of time on! (then read and share some of the other links below this video)

not all home gardens are created equal

Not all Home Gardens Are Created Equal

If you’re anything like us, you love eating fresh organic, produce – and trust us when we say, it tastes even better when you grow it yourself. A home garden is the best way to enjoy fresh and local food, save money and time otherwise spent shopping, and it encourages us to eat healthier. Plus, it’s a great way to teach kids about where their food comes from and get them excited about trying new things.

Not Your Ordinary Fairytale

Not Your Ordinary Fairytale

Once upon a time, necessity was the mother of invention. People lived a simple life, because life was simpler. Things were reusable because people cherished what they had, shopping was done locally because long distance travel wasn’t an option, water was valued, and cleaning was done with lemons. (more…)

A Clean and Healthy Home: 30 things to do right now

We go to great lengths to keep the home clean, as we should. It’s where we raise our families, were we gather with friends, where we cook and eat, where we rest and unwind, and even so much more. When we take good care of our home environment, it takes good care of us. (more…)

Our Water Roundup

We fill our pots, bathtubs, sports bottles, and swimming pools with it. We wash the car, the pets, our bodies and the dishes with it. We use it in manufacturing, and rely on it for power. It’s essential for life, but it’s obvious from the way we treat our water that we don’t appreciate the vital importance of it.
