It’s all too often that I need to defend the value of social media…bottom line: it works. BUT, you do need to know HOW to work it, and use it well. I can only relate it to being trained in the art of making sales calls, or customer service, or even finding the right group of friends. It is certainly not a separate department at your company, and it’s certainly not something to farm out to an “expert” without involvement and understanding.
Social media works. It is not your business, it is an amplification tool, a focus group, a resource, an online trade show, a custom news feed, a sales channel, and quick customer service; it is a place to share, complain, celebrate and rant. And, it’s a place where many of us share food, and sometimes, it makes us hungry – for that particular dish or even, for change.
The other day, I posted a picture of a snack on Instagram that I made with my 3 kids and it was met with much enthusiasm and requests (flattered, thanks). More importantly, I am excited about the possibility of even a few of you making this homemade coconut caramel sauce (please use organic ingredients!). Please let me know what you think…it might actually inspire me to complete my own cookbook. Social media can do so much – in so many ways. Embrace it!
Remember, sharing is caring. Good for life. Good for business.
