Kale chips are the perfect snack. If made properly, they taste like the most delicious chip, but with all the health benefits of a kale salad. Kale is high in fibre, vitamins, iron, and calcium – so it’s no wonder you would want to fuel up on it throughout the day!
Not all kale chips are created equal.
Whether you make your own or buy your kale chips from someone else, your kale chips are only as healthy as the ingredients they are made with! Some kale chips come loaded with salts and fats. Others are made using pesticide-sprayed kale. And of course, the method of preparation matters too! While tasty and convenient, baking kale chips in your oven can kill enzymes (not to mention it’s dangerous to leave your oven unattended, even at a low heat, for extended periods of time).
Always choose organic, dehydrated kale chips, made with healthy whole ingredients.
Opt for kale that has been grown organically, and ideally locally too! Make sure you can read and understand the ingredient label and nutrition panel. If you’re making your own kale chips and want to protect the healthy enzymes, use a dehydrator instead of an oven. There are many great pre-made options to choose from too.
