Since Covid hit, I’ve dedicated myself to myself, my family, Borden Communications and The Akira Concept. Along the way, I’ve grown … I’ve cried a lot, I’ve felt selfish for disappointing others as I’ve put my head down and gone inward, and I’ve put my whole head/heart/gut into it. I’ve loved every moment, and absolutely hated it too. I’ve felt strong and vulnerable at the same time. I’ve been inspired and so totally frustrated. I’ve been outside my comfort zone more than ever. I’ve heard my ego scream that I have no idea what I’m talking about and even that I’m full of shit.
I’ve helped clients pivot, I’ve supported those who are trying to survive in small business through the pandemic, I’ve learned with Megan how to work remotely in what seems to be different time zones even though we are only 30 minutes apart, I’ve learned how to be a better partner and mother (albeit where I have floundered the most as well), and I’ve learned a lot about my nervous system and how to work with it instead of against it.
I’ve been deeply grateful for all of you who have (knowingly and unknowingly) reminded me that I can do this and it’s what I’ve already been doing for so long.
I have co-written two books … The Akira State Workbook and a light-hearted, colourful book designed to lift us all up called “No Worries” … because who doesn’t want that right now?! With two more books on the way, and an online “community centre and studio” where you will be able to virtually gather to help yourself and others, a podcast and …. I am sure more. As usual, I start things when I have no clue what I’m doing but love diving deep to find the way and the solutions. Creativity is my therapy, and during this past year it’s become more clear than ever. I am relentless in the pursuit of “better”. I am aware that everything I produce is a collaborative effort … when I consult and coach, and help entrepreneurs/brands organize and grow, I am so fortunate to learn and expand at the same time. We learn, create, and win together.
A meaningful virtual thank you to each of you for co-creating with me. Everything is connected. Every new thing I create is directly or indirectly because of you. Every article, book, or Instagram post comes from listening to you and taking your feedback. Every idea (and my busy brain) starts as a request or understanding my struggles …and yours too.
Here’s to taking deep breaths, investing in ourselves, and diving deep into creating and experiencing “good stuff” that helps us, others, and our planet. Thank you for your patience, inspiration, and for co-creating with me. We are here to do the same with you.
All of the links this month are ones that you have shared with me, and I believe need to travel further!
