Are you ready to be an Empathetic Economist?
You’re in the right place.
Empathy Economics is a term I coined to encourage you (and remind us all) to practice being connected to everything we purchase.
It’s a concept and a way of thinking about anything and everything you purchase … if (and when) you buy “better” and healthier, then the makers will make things that are “better” and healthier. Together, we can be about, and practice, conscious, informed, responsible, and better consumerism … and feel good about it! It’s about simple economics … Empathy Economics.

What kind of wellness and world are you creating with every dollar you spend?
It is the rare person who sees that an organic apple is not only better for themselves, but also for our soil, water, air, and the people growing the apple. Our modern world encourages us to think about one thing or category at a time … it is like seeing the individual puzzle pieces rather than the completed puzzle … the big picture. It’s time to reject perceived convenience and embrace the idea of a “value tag” over a “price tag”. Empathy Economics is the answer … it helps you make purchases that will boost your Wellness Intelligence. You will discover and embrace new things and perspective that are small but life-changing … you will see the bigger picture (clearly!) and will gain more of an understanding that everything you really do matters … for you and everyone else!
You can change your world and THE world with every dollar you spend (and don’t spend!)
A radically different economy is needed and it begins with your choices … the power in your wallet. Every dollar you spend is a vote for the kind of world you want … and for your own wellness.
Does what you buy really make a difference?
Yes, it absolutely makes a difference. Everything you buy matters … for you, for us, and for every generation that follows.
Which do you prefer?
Do you want your purchases to enslave, undermine, exploit, erode, marginalize or compromise or to express empathy, wellness, kindness, delight, comfort, protest, celebration, change, joy, sharing and caring? Simple, right?
I am not only going to remind you of the questions to ask, but I will always help you find your way to a better solution. This is how committed I am to Empathy Economics … and to you!
Ask these Empathy Economics questions before buying anything:
+ Who am I buying from?
the maker, the retailer, what do they support and stand for?
+ What is it made of?
the materials or ingredients, the packaging, the processing
+ Where is it made?
how are the humans treated? how far did it travel to get to you?
+ Is it necessary?
is it a need or a want? what purpose does it serve?
+ How does it affect your wellness?
in all dimensions, short and long term
When you are able to answer these questions, and you feel good about them, then it’s a good purchase for you in that moment … that’s conscious, informed, and responsible consumerism … and you’ll feel good about it!
If you buy better and healthier, then the makers will make things that are better and healthier. If you feel badly about your purchases, then do not make them. If you feel good, then it is good. Vote with every dollar you spend. Simple economics … Empathy Economics.
Empathy Economics reminder: If you stop buying crap, then the makers will stop making crap.
