Are effective and beautiful websites expensive? It depends. It doesn’t have to be. We are so often met with “I can’t afford a great website”, or “I’ve been working on my website and ready to launch soon”, and, “I don’t have time to deal with writing copy or hiring designers”, and we feel this … we are a small business too. Budgets and bandwidth are not abundant and available! Your customers are online, so you need to be too. Even if you don’t have “extra” time or money, you aren’t especially technologically savvy or confident, it’s really never been easier to create your own simple (and effective) website. You could create a free website, but …
Not All Website Themes Are Created Equal
A free website theme might seem tempting, but it will cost you much more time and frustration … especially over time. Many free themes are limited and restrict customization, offer little to no support, and are usually not updated.
A DIY website platform like SquareSpace, Wix or Shopify might catch your eye with their glossy, easy-to-use themes, and low monthly costs, but over time, you’ll recognize the many limitations and planned limitations (upgrade-driven) of each of these services and end up paying much more than you need.
Choose a theme with great ratings, reviews, and support.
WordPress is great for a simple blog as much as a full corporate website. WordPress can be more versatile, more customizable, and cost less overall than other options. The DIY platforms may seem more user-friendly for a beginner, but WordPress offers MUCH better value and efficiencies in the long run.
